How to Make Beef Shami Kebabs|Shami Kabab Recipe

Hello beautiful people, today we are going to make Shami Kebabs, a snack loved by children and adults alike all around the world. So let's get started.

Ingredients for the recipe

  • 500g boneless beef
  • 250g dal chana/ split yellow lentils
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 10 cloves of garlic
  • 1 inch piece of ginger,chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tsp of salt/ to taste
  • 1 tsp of red chilli flakes/ to taste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 5-6 chopped green chillies
  • 1 cup of chopped, fresh coriander
  • 1- 1.5 liter of water, as needed
  • One egg
  • Oil for frying

Cooking method for the recipe

Combine all ingredients including boneless beef, split yellow lentils, chopped onion, chopped ginger, garlic cloves, bay leaf, cloves, black peppercorns, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, salt, red chilli flakes, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and water in a cooking pot.

Mix well and on medium-high heat, bring the contents of the pot to boil.

Once the contents of the pot come to a boil, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with the lid and let cook until lentils and meat is tender, 1-1.5 hr.

Once the meat and the lentil is tender, reduce the remaining water in the meat mixture on medium-high flame while mashing the mixture well with the help of spatula.

Once the water dries up and the mixture is mashed well, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down completely.

When the mixture cools down completely, add chopped fresh coriander and green chillies. Mix well.

After mixing the mixture well, shape the mixture to form kebabs as shown in the picture below. For convenience, you can divide the mixture into equal parts and then shape to form patty/ kebab.

Now we have shaped the mixture into kebabs. Beat one egg 🥚 and add a pinch of salt to it. Preheat oil in a frying pan on medium heat.

Dip kebabs one by one into the egg and fry. Add few at a time. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Fry the kebabs until golden brown on both sides.
